Biography of al-Qasimi
He is Al-Allamah
al-Muhaddis Syria, Syeikh Muhammad Jamaluddin bin Muhammad Said bin Qasim bin
Soleh bin Ismail bin Abu Bakar,
better known as al-Qasimi. He is in right
descendant to his grandfather by the name of Sheikh Qasim, a leading scholar
in Syria. He was born on Monday in
Jumada
Al-U'la the year 1283 H/1866 M in
Damascus died on
Saturday in Jumada
Al-U'la the year 1332 H/1914 M.
He grows in
the middle of a known family of piety and
knowledge. Al-Qasimi's
father is a jurist of fiqh and also a writer named Abu
'Abdillah Muhammad Sa'id Abu al-Khair. His father inherited
a library that
contains many scientific literature from his
grandfather. And, his
father that pass down and drain the various sciences to al-Qasimi, straight
from the
source, namely books. Keep in mind, a private library dad al-Qasimi contain a variety of books on tafsir,
hadith, fiqh, language, mysticism, literature, history, ushul fiqh, socio-civic, sports, comparative
law, philosophy, and history of comparative religion.
Muhammad Abduh is
one of many scholars who influenced his intellectual
development. Since his introduction with
Muhammad Abduh in 1904, he changed the language style of rhymes which have long been wrestled with the language style
of prose in many works he wrote. He also included
the anti-taqlid and
called for the opening of the
doors of ijtihad.
