Japanese Companies Make Malaysia As Halal Food Export Relations
NH Foods, the largest food
producer in Japan, will make Malaysia a hub of export halal food that will be
consumed by Muslims.
NHF group Manufacturing
Unit in collaboration with a local Malaysian company which is a poultry
producer, Lay Hong. They will build a new plant in Selangor, the state which is
adjacent to the Malaysian capital on the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia.
With an investment of 10
million US dollars, the construction of the new plant is scheduled to begin in
early 2017. When completed in the first half of 2018, the plant will be capable
of producing 1,000 tons of food monthly under the first phase, with an option
to double the capacity and depending on demand.
"There is huge
potential for halal food in Japan," said Hideki Fujii, an executive of NH
Foods as reported asia.nikkei.com Tuesday (20/12).
The Company launched five
variants of frozen chicken products. Namely kaarage (boneless thigh meat),
chiki-chiki (central wing bone), amakaraage (thigh meat intact), tebamoto
amakaraage "and Menchi katsu (meat inside).
Marketed under the brand
Nippon Premium NutriPlus, the product is available at AEON and two other local
supermarket, but the sales network will be expanded to include shops and
filling stations.
The company targets
penjualanan in urban areas. Together with NH Foods, Lay Hong is also exploring
opportunities in Indonesia and Thailand to expand the integrated food
manufacturers.
Under the export strategy,
the Malaysian unit will also be prepared to accommodate a halal certificate to
eat cold food, including nuggets, burgers and omelets.
